The mPack mini is remarkably smaller and lighter than the mPack LL I had been using the last 9 years. Certainly Heine advertises that point, but the difference surprised me when I adopted the mini. I like the ability to charge from other sources than the proprietary transformer; and the connector for the light seems like it will be more robust in the long term compared to the older bayonet style, as there is less play and more depth of contact.
To me the one drawback is obvious - much reduced battery capacity. However, in clinical use I rarely have the light turned up all the way, and rarely take lunch. It's hard to evaluate percentage of remaining power at the end of the day, but I seem to end always in the middle green indicator, and never the amber, so I have so concerns for use at the home office. If I were doing more mission work, I think I might yearn for the 17hrs high / 60 hrs low that the old mPack LL claimed. Cost aside, pack a few minis instead.
